Book description
A thorough understanding of the normal anatomy and imaging appearance of the breast is important. \X hen we have a good reference for what normal looks like, we are more likely to detect something that is abnormal. In addition, normal structures can mimic pathology. Identifying the spectrum of appearance of normal structures will improve cancer detection and also help reduce unnecessary biopsies and follow-up.
To understand normal breast anatomy, we will proceed from superficial to deep (Fig. 18.1).
