The textbook “English for Medical Purposes” is compiled on the basis of the state educational standard of higher and secondary education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of medicine. It is aimed at teaching the English language to the second year students of a medical institution. It helps students to develop their language skills including listening, speaking, writing and reading as well as their medical knowledge.
The textbook consists of 15 units, and each lesson has a set of interactive exercises. Ever}' medical text is topical and embraces up - to - date information about health and health - related issues. Scientific texts are accompanied by textual tasks, which include exercises that contribute to the mastery medical terms, the development of oral and written ability w ithin the class. For instance. True and False exercise is useful to check students' comprehension.
Along with reading, set of listening exercises have been provided with the purpose of developing students listening skills and correct pronouncing of medical terms.
This textbook which has a wide system of proposed exercises is aimed at the formation and development of future doctors’ foreign language professional competence.
