Recent studies highlight a high prevalence o f depression among patients with cardiovascular diseases. Increasingly, stress, negative emotions, and depress ion are recognized as psychological risk factors for the development o f somatic diseases. Depression, in particular, is most often considered a contributing factor to cardiovascular diseases. Both domestic and international researchers have proven (hat patients with ischemic heart disease exhibit high levels o f trail anxiety, a tendency to somatize symptoms, chronic stress, difficulties in differentiating and verbalizing emotions, unresolved affective experiences, and emotional disturbances o f anxious, hypochondriacal, and depressive types, which correlate with disease severity. In this regard, early psychological diagnosis o f depression becomes especially relevant.
