Unlike many surgical texts that assume the reader is destined for an operating theatre career, this book is designed for the family physician who must be the first point of contact — the clinician who recognises the patient requiring urgent referral, who provides appropriate initial management before specialist care, who monitors the post-operative patient in the community, and who maintains the long-term health of the surgical patient.
